Welcome to the Curriculum, Instruction, and Educational Technology Department

The Office of Curriculum and Instruction  continues to coordinate  and advance  all district  instructional programs.  The office works with curriculum committees consisting of teachers and administrators to evaluate and revitalize curricula based on student needs, research-based best practice, state and national standards, and standardized assessment results.  Further,  the office facilitates the work of the Glen Rock Professional Development Committee to  create  meaningful professional  development opportunities  to enhance student learning and  instructional practices. Professional development for teachers is offered across the schools, grades, and disciplines focusing on rigorous standards and curricula.   The integration of instructional  technology in the classroom is supported by the  curriculum and professional development.  A multi-prong professional development model has been planned, embraced and implemented in Glen Rock.  The model  offers teachers  a variety of  learning opportunities  offered through: in and out -of -district workshops,  webinars, on-line workshops,  committees,  summer curriculum writing  initiatives, graduate courses, mentoring, program visitations, shadowing, etc.

ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 is an English language proficiency assessment for Grades K–12. The test is administered every year to help school districts monitor the English language development of students identified as English language learners.

What is the purpose of the test?
ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 measures students’ abilities to understand and produce English used within school settings. The four sections of the test are Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing.

Why does my child have to take the test?

Students eligible for and participating in the district ESL program will be assessed during the first two weeks of March. More information can be found in the below 'Useful Information and Documents' section of this page in the folder entitled 'ACCESS 2.0 Parent Information.'
