2015-16 Professional Development Offerings

The 2015-16 professional development course offerings can be found in the below Useful Information and Documents file. The former Institute for Educators was launched in October of 2012 as an opportunity for teachers and administrators to attend in-district workshops with a focus on Instructional Technology. The program has developed and expanded to become the Glen Rock Professional Development Academy which offers a variety of instructional technology and curriculum related course offerings, including opportunities for horizontal and vertical articulation. Some training opportunities, as indicated in the brochure, are open to teachers and administrators from outside the district. Details for registration can be found on the Glen Rock Community School website.

As the district continues to move forward with the integration of emerging technologies in the classroom, workshop participants will be provided with opportunities to engage in hands-on training projects and leave the sessions with a complete or near complete product for classroom use. Sessions will include in-depth training on how different digital resources can be incorporated into the classroom.

The in-district New Teacher Orientation Program provides an important opportunity for novice teachers to learn about the academic culture and expectations of the Glen Rock learning community. Novice teachers will have multiple opportunities to engage in professional development workshops with their mentors on a district and building level. The workshop sessions will be conducted by consultants, teachers, and administrators on a variety of topics.

Finally, the district is growing professional development opportunities
using online modules and webinars to support teachers as digital learners.
