Welcome to the Curriculum, Instruction, and Educational Technology Department

The Office of Curriculum, Instruction, and Educational Technology Department continues to coordinate  and advance  all district  instructional programs.  The office works with curriculum committees consisting of teachers and administrators to evaluate and revitalize curricula based on student needs, research-based best practice, state and national standards, and standardized assessment results.  Further,  the office facilitates the work of the Glen Rock Professional Development Committee to  create  meaningful professional  development opportunities  to enhance student learning and  instructional practices. Professional development for teachers is offered across the schools, grades, and disciplines focusing on rigorous standards and curricula;  technology is integrated throughout the curricula.  A multi-prong professional development model has been planned, embraced and implemented in Glen Rock.  The model  offers teachers  a variety of  learning opportunties through in and out -of -district workshops,  webinars, summer curriculum writing  initiatives, graduate courses, mentoring, program visitations, shadowing, etc.

The 2014-15 Institute for Educators workshop offerings can be found in the below useful information and documents file. The Institute for Educators, formerly known as the Teacher Institute, was launched in October of 2012 as an opportunity for teachers and administrators to attend in-district Professional Development with a focus on Instructional Technology. Over the past two years, the Institute has provided a wide variety of training opportunities for the professional staff of the Glen Rock Public Schools, including horizontal and vertical articulation. As with all initiatives, the Institute has emerged and expanded to meet professional development needs of the District’s professional staff. As the District moves forward with the integration of technology in the classroom, participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on training in which they will leave the sessions with a complete or near complete product. Sessions will include in-depth training on how different resources can be incorporated into the classroom. The in-district new teacher training program provides an important opportunity for novice teachers to learn about the academic culture and expectations of the Glen Rock learning community. Novice teachers will have multiple opportunities to engage in professional development workshops with their mentors on a district and building level. The workshop sessions will be conducted by consultants, teachers, and administrators on a variety of topics. Also, the district is growing professional development opportunities using specially designed online modules and webinars.
